In early December Jack Lynch resigned as Taoiseach and leader of Fianna Fail. The leadership contest that resulted was a two-horse race between Charles Haughey and the Tanaiste George Colley. Haughey won by a margin of 44 votes to 38. Here the newly-elected leader is ushered through the media on his way to the formal announcement. 02/12/1979
