Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland.
Christchurch Cathedral Dublin..1971..16.04.1971..04.16.1971..16th April 1971..Christ Church Cathedral (or, more formally, The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity) is the cathedral of the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough and the cathedral of the Ecclesiastical province of the United Provinces of Dublin and Cashel in the Church of Ireland. It is situated in Dublin, Ireland and is the elder of the capital city's two medieval cathedrals, the other being St Patrick's Cathedral..It is reputed to have been the idea of King Sitric (Silkenbeard) to build the cathedral c1030. Around the 1180s the Normans rebuilt the old wooden structure in stone and is much as we see it today although some further additions have been added through the years that followed..Once surrounded by medieval streets and buildings, road building and construction now leaves the cathedral looking isolated on the high ground..It was built in a Gothic/Romanesque style and is known throught Europe as a major tourist attraction for visitors to Ireland.
