A youth with his horse and dog. Roman, about AD125. Found at Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli. This youth once controlled his spirited horse with a metal bridle attached to the hole in the marble at its muzzle. The relief is a Roman creation, designed to decorate a wall of Hadrian's Villa. It was influenced by Classical Greek models, such as the Parthenon frieze.
