A van that had been hijacked by John O’Grady’s kidnappers being towed away by the Garda Technical Squad for forensic examination. Twenty-one days after being kidnapped from his home in Cabinteely, County Dublin, John O’Grady was rescued by Gardaí from a house in Cabra West, Dublin. During his ordeal Mr O’Grady was mutilated by the kidnappers, led by Dessie O’Hare, to apply pressure on his family to pay a ransom. In an ensuing gun battle with the kidnappers, a detective garda was shot and seriously wounded.
