A statue on top of the GPO gets a good look at the decapitated Nelson's Pillar, blown up by a republican bomb in the early hours of the morning. A well-known landmark and meeting place, the Pillar also offered a great view over the city, and its 168 steps could be climbed for a fee of sixpence (adults)..08.03.1966
