Grainne Cronin (23) in the cockpit of a Boeing 737. Formerly a stewardess with Aer Lingus, she became the first female pilot with the airline. Ms Cronin, from Ennis, Co. Clare, was the daughter of Aer Lingus Captain Felim Cronin. She reached the rank of Captain in 1988. Her last flight saw her captain an all-female crew aboard an Airbus A330 to Boston. She retired after 33 years of service.
