The Obelisk'. Erasmus Wilson (1809-1884) English surgeon and antiquary. In medicine he specialised in skin diseases. His other interest was Egyptology of which he was a generous patron. In 1878 he paid for the transport of Cleopatra's Needle from Egypt to London at a cost of £10,000.
