After a two-day news blackout, Gardaí release the news that Jennifer Guinness, wife of merchant banker John Guinness, has been kidnapped. Taken from the family home in Howth, County Dublin, a ransom of £2 million was demanded for her safe return. Supt Tom Mc Dermott and Supt Frank Hanlon of the Garda Press Office brief the press on the unfolding situation.
