Harvest time. Loading sheaves of corn onto a horse-drawn cart. The cart would be taken back to the farmyard and the sheaves either stored in a barn or built into stacks to be stored until it was a convenient time to separate the corn from the straw by threshing. Kronheim chromolithograph from 'Pictures from Nature' by Mary Howitt (London, 1869).
