Vietnamese Refugees Arrive In Ireland. (M85)..1979..09.08.1979..08.09.1979..9th August 1979..As part of an UNHCR initiative, Ireland agreed to take some of the Vietnamese (boat people) refugees into the country. A temporary refugee centre has been set up in the grounds of Blanchardstown Hospital to accomodate the families, from where they will be assimilated into the community..Picture shows the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Michael O'Kennedy TD, on hand to greet our new citizens.
