The MV Columcille sets sails for Biafra, carrying food, clothes and medicines. The Irish public had raised £100,000 for the newly-formed Africa Concern ( Now Concern). Three more ships followed in a two year period in which the charity raised more than £3.5m from the Irish public, a huge figure at that time.. 06.09.1968
