Dew Mighty Minerals Hot Air Balloon. (H15)..1974..07.08.1974..08.07.1974..7th August 1974..The launching of the Dew Mighty Minerals hot air balloon,took place in Tullamore,Co Offaly last night,as part of the Tullamore Festival Week. The balloon was piloted by Mr Wilf Woollett,a veterinary surgeon from Loughrea,Co Galway and his co-pilot was Kevin Haugh. Miss Rosemary Mannion,the Offaly Rose of Tralee contestant sent the balloon on its way by popping a bottle of Champagne over it. The balloon itself has a capacity of 56,000 cubic feet,is 60ft high and 50ft wide. It is made from nylon/polyproplene. The basket is 2ft square by 3ft high and carries two people,it is attached to the balloon by steel cables..Wilf Woollett has piloted the balloon in the U.S. and Britain and is a member of the Dublin Balloon Club.
