Henry John Rous (1795-1877), British admiral and sportsman. He served in the Royal Navy from 1808 until 1838. A horse racing enthusiast, he was a steward of the Jockey Club from 1838, and in 1855 he was appointed public handicapper. From 'The Modern Portrait Gallery' (London, c1880).
