Galway defeated Kilkenny in the first encounter but lost the 1924 and '25 finals to Dublin and Tipperary respectively. Jim was captain when Galway lost the 1928 final to Cork. In 1995, at the age of 100, Jim recalled his sporting memories in an interview in the Sunday Tribune.
