Thomas Brassey, lst Earl Brassey (1836-1918) English Liberal politician and eldest son of Thomas Brassey the eminent railway contractor. Created Earl Brassey in 1911. In 1876-1877, with his wife and four children, he circumnavigated the world in his steam-assisted yacht 'Sunbeam'.
