Marble head of a Ptolemaic ruler, perhaps Apion, King of Cyrene (d. 94 BC). Found in the temple of Apollo at Cyrene, in Libya. 1st century BC. Ptolemy Apion was the third and illegitimate son of Ptolemy VIII. He ruled Cyrene as a semi-independent kingdom and bequeathed it to Rome.
