2nd February 1972.
After the tragedy, that was Bloody Sunday, when British paratroops opened fire on a civilian protest march in Derry, a national day of mourning was held in memory of those who died or were injured. The Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association had organised the protest march to highlight the inequities of a system which discriminated against the Catholic community of the city.
Image shows that despite the inclement weather many people queued at the Pro-Cathedral for the requiem mass for those killed in the outrage in Derry.
